Emdebian at Fosdem 2009, Brussels.

7th and 8th February 2009, Brussels. Several Emdebian developers met up during Fosdem, including at many popular talks in the Embedded and Debian dev-rooms.

Neil Williams presented two talks, one for the Debian devroom on the Draft TDeb Specification [PDF] and one (split into two parts) for the Embedded devroom covering the impending releases of Emdebian 1.0 Grip [PDF] and Emdebian 1.0 Crush [PDF], both based on Debian GNU/Linux 5.0 "lenny".

Wookey presented a talk on Solar Control with 1-wire Open Hardware using the balloon board for the Embedded devroom.

Wookey, Nick Bane, Nick Davidson (Toby!Churchill), Neil Williams and others discussed ideas to improve apt for incremental downloads, plans to run the entire Debian distribution through the Grip scripts as a proof-of-concept and the decision by the Debian Release Team to sign the Release files of Emdebian 1.0 Grip to ease the installation of Emdebian Grip using the Debian Installer. Hector Oron also worked on the Emdebian toolchain installability to make these available in stable.

Emdebian Grip 1.0 and Emdebian Crush 1.0 are now due for release alongside Debian 5.0 "lenny".
