Think of Emdebian Crush 1.0 (based on Debian 5.0) as the first release of a new distribution, albeit using packages from Debian lenny. This means that although the packages are mature, the rest of the distribution is very, very immature and involves significant effort to install and configure. Things will improve in subsequent releases and as changes needed to help Emdebian are implemented across the rest of Debian.
